Big Changes to "Showdown in the Bordertown"!!! Honky Tonk Man and Tatanka are out! "SHAFTED on COGECO TV" this Saturday in Cornwall!

Recent border crossing issues that prevented former WWE superstar Paul London from appearing at CWA's Jan 7th "Year Five" event in Cornwall have now impacted another eastern Ontario promotion and prevented two more pro wrestling legends from appearing in front of Canadian fans. Honky Tonk Man and Tatanka were slated to appear this Saturday, January 21 2012, in Cornwall as the featured advertised attractions of Canadian Grand Prix Wrestling's 10th year anniversary event "Showdown In The Bordertown". Cornwall is a bordertown, located just minutes from the Canadian/U.S. line; Tatanka & Honky were to appear in Murphy's Pub, the same venue CWA was using when Paul London was denied entry. It seems regulations at the border regarding U.S. talent from appearing in a place generating revenue through alcohol sales is the sticking point barring American wrestlers from crossing the border. With his two top attractions denied entry to the country CGPW promoter Joe Dunlap issued the following statement Wednesday, January 18, 2012: CONCERNING CGPW Wrestling It is with deepest regret that I have to make this announcement but due to diplomatic issues beyond our control there will be no Legends this Saturday night at Murphy's Inn in Cornwall, ON and effective immediately there will be no workers accepted from the United States until further notice. I’ve been working on this situation for a few days and tried everything and in no way have made any progress what so ever in such short amount of time. It was suggested by certain officials that I cancel the show completely so I have come to the decision that SHOWDOWN IN THE BORDERTOWN II WILL BE POSTPONED UNTIL A LATER DATE. In it’s place we present to you CGPW SHAFTED featuring EXTREME MIDGET WRESTLING SUPERSTAR, 3ft 5, 85lb MIKE HAWK VS 3ft 6, 92lb BOUNCING BRUCE RUDDER. ALSO CGPW Heavyweight Champion Dave Titan has been stripped of the title under the “no defend” AND “no contact with the office clause” so the CGPW Title is yet VACANT again, rumour has it that I will be handing over the title to The Rage Randy Berry at this event, this is a story fabricated on the internet and in no way is it going to happen, and if he thinks I’m going to, he can kiss my ass. If you want to get the REAL scoop come down to Murphy’s Inn and SUPPORT LOCAL INDY WRESTLING this Saturday night at 7:30pm!! THE SHOW WILL GO ON. For those of you who purchased your tickets in advance you have 2 options, you can come to Murphy’s Inn with your ticket on Saturday January 21st from 2pm until bell-time for either a $10 REFUND and enjoy the totally awesome TV COGECO TAPING we have put together for you for only $10 or we will issue a FULL REFUND on your tickets. Those who purchased Family Packs will be refunded 50% of the ticket value if they still want to attend the show, or FULL VALUE if they choose not to. Our first show was at Murphy’s Inn January 2002, tickets were only $10 and there were no Legends on that show and the building was packed to the rafters, LETS SHOW OUR FRIENDS THAT THIS WILL NOT DAMPEN OUR SPIRITS (no pun intended). Although it is TECHNICALLY our 10 year anniversary on this date we believe that such an accomplishment in this business deserves to be celebrated and not be surrounded by controversy so this event will still happen at a later date, after we have had some time to get everything sorted out. If there was ever a time to support local Indy Wrestling Saturday night is it, COME OUT AND SHOW “THE MAN” that no matter what they say or do the show will go on and will succeed!! I once again apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to seeing you all on Saturday night for CGPW SHAFTED at Murphy’s Inn. Thank you for your continued support
