June 20th, 2010
Germania Club, 863 King St. E, Hamilton
Belltime: 1:30pm
Attendance: Approx. 120
Referees: David Gilbert Clarke, Bryan Renda
Show opens with Lord JN Cassel and Igor Sonovovich coming to the ring demanding top competition since losing the GWN Commonwealth title to Dangerboy. "Big" Mick Blackwell came to the ring to accept the challenge.
Lord JN Cassel w/Igor Sonovovich def. "Big" Mick Blackwell
- Blackwell controlled the match early one with sheer power nailing Cassel devestating clubbing forearms, a bodyslam and then applied a nerve hold. Blackwell worked Cassel down to the canvas and gave him a sitting splash but pulled Cassel up for more punishment instead of gaining the 3 count, foolish mistake as this allowed Cassel and Igor to turn the tide in their favor. Cassel began to focus his attack on the legs on the big man, Igor helped interfere by distracting the official and using the ropes and holding hands for leverage. Kids were going nuts trying to get official to see the interference. Cassel attempted a figure four but couldn't apply the hold properly because of the size of Blackwell's legs, Cassel attempted a pin. 2 count. Blackwell attempted a splash in the corner on Cassel but Cassel escaped, Blackwell crashed into the corner, and Cassel pinned him quickly for the win.
"Tyrant" Eric Dawson hit the ring after the celebration and got on the mic. He carved up the town of Hamilton calling it a dump, making fun of the tiger cats and claiming that Igor was not his manager but his personal advisor, since the "Tyrant" is a loner. Vowed that he didn't need to put his belt on the line or use weapons, and despite Donovan Jack O'Shea losing multiple times he still is somehow the #1 contender.
#1 Contendership Tag Team Title Match
"Wildfire" Tommy Burch & JQ Publik def. "Rugged" Rex Atkins & "Babyface" KC Tanks
- Tanks is irrate with his introduction and demands that he is not a babyface. Burch has new gear, sporting a fire design and "Wildfire" on his ass. Crowd really into Publik and Burch before the match even begins. Match starts off with Rex Atkins and Publik exchanging arm bars, and arm wringers until JQ gained the power advantage. JQ nailed a leg lariat, and tags out to Burch. Burch comes in a house of fire nails him with a couple high knees but went too many times to the well as he missed one in the corner which allowed Tanks & Rex to cut the ring in half and work the knee. Atkins and Tanks did a good job of double teams distracting the ref David Gilbert Clarke.
Tanks, former partner of Burch was trying to humilate him in front of the hot crowd, and tries to make the youngster submit with a half crab. Finally Burch makes it to the ropes and manages to make the tag to Publik who comes in a fury. Nails both his opponents with series of dropkicks. Tanks breaks this up by raking his eyes. Tanks attempts a ddt, but Publik in good ring awareness holds on to the ropes, and then is able to deliver an inverted ddt of his own. Publik nails Tanks with a huge black hole slam to score the victory and allow his team to become new number 1 contenders.
Following the celebration with the crowd, Igor gets on the mic saying that Falcors call the shots as the champs, and will decide when the title match will be occuring. Igor says they better bring their top game. Burch feeling the affect of his knee damage is still able to celebrate the victory with JQ and the fans, which ate them up.
SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH
"Silverback" Shawn Brown w/Igor Sonovovich def "Crusader" Curtis Cain
- Cain had a small run with GWN last year, but has been taking some time off to get in better ring condition. Tall young man seemed maybe too eager and the inexperience cost him dearly in this match which was pretty much a squash. Brown stiffed the hell out of Cain with several devestating clotheslines and then gets the tall man in a headlock. Brown gets him in a front facelock, starts kneeing him in the face, lets him get up and then nails him with a crescent kick to the side of the head.
Brown destroyed him with several headbutts and kicks. Locked Cain up in a tree of woe, but too much showboating and Cain was able to unhook his legs, after this occured the "shooter" hooked him in a t-bone and faceplanted Cain in the canvas. After a rough looking back suplex, he floated over and hooked Cain in a chickenwing for the submission victory.
GWN Ladies Championship
"Anti-Diva" Kaitlin Diemond def Jodi D'Milo (c) to become the new and 2nd ever GWN Ladies Champion
- Diemond wasted no time and sent Jodi to the buckles, and nailed her with a clothesline. Jodi was able to gain the advantage with her size and power. Jodi did a good job of working the crowd throughout. Crowd really began to rally behind Kaitlin who was able to hit a sunset flip as the fans chanted her name. Jodi escaped and tried to get Kaitlin beat with a small package. Jodi then decided to change her game plan and focus on a couple of arm strech/surfboard style submissions. Crowd rallies behind Kaitlin again, which fires her up she hits a running bulldog out of the corner on D'Milo for a 2 count.
Kaitlin attempts a double underhook suplex, but D'Milo was able to reverse with a back body drop, positions Diemond for the D'Milo bomb but the "Anti-Diva" anticipated it and rolled out of the way. D'Milo picked her up with a big samoan drop and preps her again for the D'Milo bomb, crowd rallies behind Kaitlin again who rolls out the way, D'Milo crashed on the mat, and Diemond school girl roll up to become the new champ.
After the match Holly Hilton came down to the ring to congratulate the new champ, and admires the title. Hilton then smashes Diemond with the title and lays it on her saying she will take the title and check it into the Hilton, and that's HOLLY HILTON!
At this time commissioner and ring announcer Johnny Riel called for an intermission by Donovan Jack O'Shea came to the ring running down Dawson saying he needed a cowbell or weapon like a coward to ever beat him, that Hamilton was a great town he loved to called home and put over his long family lineage in wrestling in Canada. DJ O'Shea said that not even dental records were gonna be able to identify Dawson as he'll send him packing in his pickup truck back to Texas.
Intermission- Some nice advancement of the GWN stories and direction. I personally felt that D'Milo should've retained the title, and they built up Hilton the newcomer as a babyface challenger but that's just me. Crowd was most into the tag so far, but hot throughout the show. Some quiet times during the Brown/Cain match but obviously the crowd is indifferent about the unknown Cain who has been a heel on several occasions here previously, and they coulda gave him more hope in the bout instead of a complete annihilation. Cassel continues improves his selling, facials and crowd interaction. I like that Hilton is coming in here, which breaks up Diemond/D'Milo for the umpteenth time since GWN's inception and countless other promotions. There are a few less fans after intermission but still over 100. Burch solidified on this card as a babyface that GWN are fully behind now.
GWN Commonwealth Title Match
Dangerboy (c) retains over Kid Copeland
-I hadn't seen Copeland in quite some time so I didn't expect much from this match considering the last match I saw him in, but this was the sleeper hit, and best match on the card in my opinion. Dangerboy is easily the most over star in GWN right now, as he was coming to the ring and giving high fives, Copeland attacked him on the apron before he could get his ring jacket off. Dangerboy was able to make a comeback and Copeland a flying headscissors out of the ring. Copeland is furious and the crowd is all over him. Back in the ring Dangerboy flips him, kicks him and nailed Copeland with a snap suplex. Dangerboy telegraphed a back body drop which allowed Copeland to deliver a stiff kick in the face. Copeland gets a suplex of his own, and focused his attack on the neck and back as he applied a dragon sleeper. Copeland ascends to the top rope and nails a flying elbow smash for a 2 count.
Action spills to the outside where Copeland gains the upperhand, both men enter the ring as Dangerboy attemps a moonsault from the 2nd rope on the inside loses his footing and crashes backward to the mat. Copeland great ring awareness and experience quickly goes for the cover but gets a 2 count. Copeland hooks him in a double under hook for a Tigerbomb into a float over texas cloverleaf. Dangerboy manages to get to the ropes crowd really rallies for Dangerboy who recieves a back senton from Copeland.
Copeland brutalizes Dangerboy with some kicks until they start to exchange kicks and forearms strong style. Dangerboy hits a ddt, and climbs the ropes but Copeland gets up and crotches him on the ropes to the floor. Crowd chants "DANGER! DANGER!" as Copeland hits a clothesline, crowd really hates this. Copeland applies the camel clutch, kids are now standing up and chanting. Dangerboy rallies, nails a german suplex, and then nails Copeland with a fishermans brain buster for a near fall. Dangerboy comes off the ropes again with a flying headbutt for the pinfall. Crowd goes nuts, and kids starting surrounding the ring to celebrate with Dangerboy and giving Copeland an ear full to the locker room.
At this time they did a draw where there was a wrestling gift pack, and a digital picture frame that was given away. Crowd chants for Dangerboy to do the draw which has now become the routine at the last few shows, after a hard match he was unable to come out which "Big" Mic Blackwell did the draw.
"YOU BRING IT, WE SWING IT" Fans Bring the Weapons for the GWN Heavyweight Title
"Lucky Charms" Donovon Jack O'Shea def "Tyrant" Eric Dawson (c) w/Igor Sonovovich to become the new champion.
- Dawson wastes no time by going right for DJ O'Shea's eyes and nails the big Irishman with a hiptoss. Dawson begins choking the challenger with his chaps, and then goes to the table full of various weapons and grabs a water pistol and starts gouging Donovan's forehead. Dawson nails him with a lariat and begins to gouge his head again. Dawson hits a kneedrop and goes back to choking him, he tries to grab a computer joystick, but Donovan stopped him before ramming Dawson into a ringpost on the outside. Donovan hits Dawson with some sort of plastic lid, and smashes him with an easter basket and a DVD player. Igor in a panic runs to the locker room for JN Cassel and Donovan pummels him. This allowed for Dawson to nail Donovan from behind. Dawson grabs a fridge door throws it in the ring, attempts to smash Donovan in the head with it, but Donovan boots it in to Dawson's face and busts him wide open. Dawson is bleeding. Igor in a panic again grabs a backpack with something in it, Donovan tries to get a hold of Donovan, who then his smashed with the backpack by Dawson.
Inside of the backpack was his bullrope and cowbell, which he proceeded to smash Donovan in the head with and tearing his flesh and Donovan is now bleeding profusely. Dawson begins choking him with the bullrope and dragging "Lucky Charms" around the ring. Action spills out of the ring again, where Donovan was able to whip Dawson into the table full of weapons. Donovan was able to roll Dawson back in the ring and scored the pinfall after Dawson climbed to the top rope, and Donovan superplexed him and made the cover. Dawson left the ringside area immediately after losing the title, while the House of Igor attacked. Igor called out the troops "Silverback" Shawn Brown & Lord JN Cassel and they put the boots to Donovan in the middle of the ring. The crowd is real hot. "Big" Mic Blackwell hit the ring from the balcony, and Dangerboy came to the ringside with a chair, and they cleared the ring.
A bloody new Champion Donovan Jack O'Shea gets on the mic and calls Brown a "Hot Dog Eating Machine" and Cassel "Lord Canada What's His Nuts" and challenges the House of Igor to a six man tag in August. Donovan says Dawson will be going back to Texas 15lbs lighter without his title, and his career had alot of highs and lows but Igor is the lowest. Donovan told them to find and Indian and they could be the village people. Donovan says kind words about Ethan and his family, as the family surrounded the bloody new champion in tears. This was a good match in what has become the top feud in the GWN after a series of good matches between both men.
Final Thoughts
Another good turnout, crowd was really hot. 2 new champions crowned as GWN is getting geared up and heading in a new direction as they roll in to the Western Ontario area, before returning to Germania Club on Sunday August 15th. The wrestling package winner gives back their prize to go to young Ethan who in the hospital, the tear eyed family appreciates the show and generosity immensely. Crowd heavily involved and emotionally invested in GWN and the stories that are unfolding.
While some may question the amount of chairity shows or benefit shows that occur within the province GWN continues to be a leading example of what class act promotions can do, act, and are eager to go above and beyond the expectations of standard indy promotions, when showing dedication to those less fortunate in the community, this continues to be a key point in the driving success of the GWN in my opinion.
